Behind the Lens

I am a Creative Artist and a self-taught photographer with passion for human development. My background is in Theatre and Performing Arts, with specialization in Theatre for Development (TfD), an interdisciplinary programme with focus on the use of theatre, communications and media for development and advocacy. Photography is one of my medium of expression as a Creative Artist and a Communication for Development professional.

As a photographer, I enjoy Documenting Culture, lifestyle, the reality of the people around me and my immediate society. Photography for me is a creative strategy of questing beyond the ordinary; it affords me that opportunity to magnify the obscure and what the ordinary eyes cannot see or deliberately ignored. Photography gives me that power to give life and resuscitate an object which the ordinary eyes would have condemned to death and laid to rest or classified as ugly.

Coming from a broad background in Theatre, Performing Arts and Development Communications, I have come to understand the importance of photography as a powerful narrative tool that can further lay emphasis and credence to storytelling, just like documentary, drama, short or feature film.

In this context, all these art-forms have symbiotic relationship which comes handy when I am trying to tell a story or doing a development project. I am an explorer, I love experimenting, travelling and documenting cultures, people and images that appeals to my consciousness: nature, street, architecture, life shows / performance, conceptual. Photography is an undying passion for me; when I see photographs, I see stories and when I read stories, I see images-just like a cinematographer.

I welcome you to my Click World of Images.
